XPOSÉ: exposing little but harmless opinions

Updated: Apr 11, 2024

Yet, at this first internship since graduating college I learned an extraordinary amount. Writing snappy headlines for self-proclaimed "think pieces" most significantly!

Job brief: XPOSÉ is a fashion and entertainment magazine. Adopting a voice that appeals to a predominantly female readership between the ages of 18 and 40 who have a taste for celebrity gossip, beauty babble and quick fashion fixes, I produced both online and print content.

Ideas: These were honed during team pitch meetings based on current events in the world of women or sometimes in personal discussions with the editor about topics I held dear.

Results: I pride myself on the difference I made at XPOSÉ Magazine, a magazine marketed solely as a Beauty, Celebrity and Fashion publication. Not a lot of the 21st century feminist notions I was pitching constantly were the type of articles readily available in the culture at the time. These fresh angles were appreciated and adopted regularly, always becoming the front cover feature article.

Some of the print results follow below in a downloadable PDF (my editorials included: "Women in comedy- a big joke?!" & "Infidelity infinitely popular: why does reality TV love bad romance?")

But other online articles included:

  • To B’n’B or not to B’n’B? Three Irish women on hosting with Airbnb

  • I knew you were Tinder trouble when you walked in: the buachaillí to avoid on this addictive app

  • Sober Sallies this summertime: we're over the influence

  • Sooo Linked-OUT: social media networking trends to steer clear of

  • Longing for Longitude: curing the festival blues

  • Adults & Tiaras: unique accessories to try this summertime

  • Words won’t bring us down: beauty ideals we simply must challenge

  • Digital detox, we dare you: 10 simple steps to putting away your blower

Circulation: 16,016 monthly across 12 issues per year

Audience: Core target market is viewers of the Xposé TV show, but extends beyond

this. TV3’s research showed that the core viewer is in their early thirties with children.

Other work with XPOSÉ included event coordination through contacting potential attendees and assisting styling photoshoots, like this one below for the XPOSÉ Ultimate Wedding Guide:
